Alumni Resources

How to access scholarly publications after you've graduated.

Bellack Library Alumni Policy

When you lose your MGB (aka Partners) username and password, you also lose access to Bellack Library's subscription databases and journals. But, our librarians can help you find other sources. We love hearing from our alumni, and we encourage you to stay connected with the Institute. If you have trouble finding what you need, please Ask a Librarian.

Alumni cannot access:

  • Subscription library databases like CINAHL, Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine, Up to Date, etc.
  • Subscription library journals

Alumni can access:

  • Physical library materials, i.e. circulating books and DVDs (see note)
  • Librarian consultations via Ask A Librarian / Book a Consultation.

Note: To access the physical library and physical collections as an alumni, you'll need an appointment. Please email librarian@mghihp.edu.

Access Beyond Bellack Library: Four Approaches

1. Professional Associations

See discipline-specific sections of this guide.

  • Tip: look into professional associations for your discipline and your state of residence.

2. Current Employer

Your employer may provide relevant online subscriptions. Most hospitals have libraries that offer access to journals and databases. Ask!

3. Public Library

Boston Public Library is available to all Massachusetts residents; sign up for an eCard now. These privileges include access to their interlibrary loan/article request services.

Commonwealth Catalog searches libraries from all over Massachusetts.

  • Works with a BPL eCard or your local MA library card.
  • Request books be sent to your local public library branch.

4. Open Access

See Portals for Open Access Scholarship section below for recommended OA resources.

See discipline-specific sections of this guide for journal titles by discipline.
