Finding nursing articles on your topic is easier than you may think. There are two strategies you can use:
Ready to jump right in? CINAHL has the majority of our nursing journals and is a good place to start. The search box below is configured to search for research articles. Simply type in your topic and click search.
First, search for your topic in CINAHL. If you need help searching in CINAHL, see the video tutorials on the More Database Tutorials page.
When you have your results, under the search bar, you can change the Publication Date from the default All time to last 12 months, last 5 years, or last 10 years. If you want a different time range, you can select the Advanced search option.
Change the Publication Date using the buttons on the left. The last option will allow you to choose a custom date range.
Find the box that says Journal Subset. Choose Nursing and click Search.
Now all of your results will be from the last 5 years and have been published in nursing journals. If you didn't use the search box to the left, you might also want to check the box that says Research Articles.
When you've selected all your options, you can hit the Search button at the bottom right to filter your results.
First, search for your topic in Ovid. If you need help searching in Ovid, see the video tutorials on the More Database Tutorials page.
When you have your results, find the white and blue box below the search bar that says Limits. Click Edit Limits.
Set Publication Year to 2015 to Current. Then find the Journal Subsets box and choose Nursing Journals. Click Customize Limits to apply.
Now all of your results will be from the last 10 years and have been published in nursing journals. If you want to limit your results to only research articles, you can also use the Publication Type filter to choose types of research articles in which you are interested.
