Research indicates that effective disciplinary practices, such as offering praise and teaching acceptable versus non‐acceptable behaviour, can act as protective factors against the social and behavioural health disparities experienced by Native Americans (NA).

Both CQI and interview results highlighted service delivery flexibility and therapists' knowledge, support and advocacy as service strengths, and lack of resources and a child-friendly office environment as weaknesses. However, the CQI results reported better communication and client input into the service than the interview results. Conclusion The CQI process, while demonstrating improvements in clinical and organisational aspects of the service, did not always reflect or address the primary concerns of Indigenous clients and underlined the importance of including clients in the CQI process.

Incidents of maternal morbidity and mortality (MMM) continue to rise in the USA. Significant racial and ethnic health inequities exist, with Native American (NA) women being three to four times more likely to die than white, non-Hispanic women, and three to five times more likely to experience an incident of severe maternal morbidity. Few studies have identified individual and community-level risk factors of MMM experienced by NA women. Therefore, this systematic review will identify said risk factors of MMM experienced by NA women in the USA.

Despite AI/AN maternal mortality being disproportionately high compared to other racial/ethnic groups, relatively little is known about root causes.

The purpose of this study was to describe potential early language and literacy strategies for Native American families. It would be impossible to develop early language interventions to meet the needs of all Native American families and children; thus, this study is a preliminary step in identifying strategies that may be culturally responsive for some families.

Residence in low-income, low-food access neighborhoods in early life was associated with higher subsequent child BMI and higher risk of obesity and severe obesity. We encourage future studies to examine whether investments in neighborhood resources to improve food access in early life would prevent child obesity.

Three themes included (1) diet and nutrition habits are formed through intergenerational food preferences and are driven by lasting implications of colonization; (2) young people are influenced by what their peers eat and the food environment, including outside of the home; and (3) the methods used to understand household food insecurity and nutrition habits in the parent study were likely limited.

In this cohort study of singleton live births in California, PTB rates increased in many groups. Persistent racial and ethnic and socioeconomic inequities were also observed. Changes in risk and protective factors provided clues to patterns of PTB. These data point to an urgent need to address factors associated with PTB at both the individual and population levels.

The social-ecological resilience of indigenous adolescents (SERIA) theory was derived from integrating (a) existing social-ecological frameworks by Bronfenbrenner, Ungar, and Burnette and Figley, (b) findings from a systematic review of 78 studies about resilience factors for mental health of Indigenous adolescents, (c) clinical experience, and (d) Indigenous knowledge.

This is a life course study that that will examine biological and environmental risk factors for obesity and cardiometabolic risk from the intrauterine period to early childhood and adolescence in a population with high-risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes in the United States. The ETCHED study would also provide a unique opportunity to combine multi-omics and clinical data to create novel integrative models to predict the cardiometabolic risk associated with childhood obesity and possibly identify etiopathogenetic mechanisms and future targets of intervention.

The findings of this research indicate that there are gaps in sexual health education and highlight the ways female tribal members act as health leaders in their communities.

The children reported high resilience supported by a strong ecosystem of relationships. Resilience, as explained through children's voices, corroborated with findings from the surveys. Implications for Nursing: Findings will help nurses across sectors of primary, secondary, and tertiary care create resilience‐enhancing interventions and prevent mental health crises in this community.

To engage tribal community members in adapting an evidence based, youth life skills curriculum for transition-age youth who have experienced multiple risk factors that prevent a healthy transition to adulthood. This exploratory, qualitative study draws on the voices of twelve critical community member (providers, parents & youth) that identified the specific cultural adaptations for the curriculum. Three primary overlapping themes emerged (1) the importance of incorporating AIAN identity and ceremony in the intervention design, (2) how the program should be integrated into current service delivery and (3) the specific curricular components to be delivered, including by whom and how they should be delivered. The inclusion of tribal members is key to building culturally relevant service delivery systems that will meet the needs of American Indian adolescents and young adults who are who are transitioning to adult hood in a American Indian community. Implications for policy and practice are offered.
