Hispanic White children developing type 1 diabetes have a high prevalence of HLA DR4-DQ8, which can be utilized to select individuals for immune monitoring with islet autoantibodies to lessen diabetic ketoacidosis and potentially prevent diabetes onset.

The lived experiences revealed by all participants offer several implications: (a) the value of extended conversations between caregivers and service providers, (b) caregiver sacrifices, (c) the importance of cultural sensitivity for SLPs, and (d) positive outcomes from online learning for children on the autism spectrum.

Children of Hispanic ethnicity with HRNBL receiving clinical trial-delivered therapy were more likely to experience ICU-level care compared to NHW children. These data suggest that further investigation of treatment-related toxicity as a modifiable mechanism underlying outcome disparities is warranted.

Latino children are at high risk for school dropout, environmental hazards, obesity, diabetes mellitus, asthma, lack of health insurance, nonfinancial barriers to health care access, and impaired quality of care, but many key questions in these areas remain unanswered. This article suggests areas in which more research is needed and ways to improve research and care of Latino children.

Findings revealed 4 themes that influenced each family's experiences: (a) bilingual support provided by a monolingual or bilingual SLP or interpreter during sessions, (b) insightful strategies taught by the SLP to interact at home with their child after sessions, (c) clear explanations about the paperwork and purpose of services provided, and (d) respect for family wishes when offering advice or feedback.

Most parents were Hispanic/Latino (41%) and female (97%). Five themes emerged that correspond to the process by which parents gained empowerment: (1) friendships formed and relationships strengthened during PConnect, (2) parents strengthened relationships with their children and believed in their ability to parent successfully, (3) the experience of knowledge led to behavior change, (4) parents used new resources to improve family health, and (5) parents took action.

Latino parents of children with feeding disorders completed a survey about their experiences accessing support and the cultural competence of their providers.

By connecting women of colour to historic and ancient spaces as well as providing comfort and familiarity in the birthing space, doulas grant their clients the self-advocacy and empowerment needed to survive the present. Doulas serve as protectors of women of colour and have become an important piece to bridging society from the current maternal health crisis to a more equitable future.

These findings demonstrate differences in delivery method preferences. Specifically, more disadvantaged patients are more likely to choose TOLAC, suggesting that social and economic factors may play a role in delivery preferences. These findings have implications for improving individualized counselling and engaging in shared decision-making around mode of delivery.

Obesity interventions for Mexican American women may benefit from targeting relational skills to improve family functioning.
